FAQ
We've put together answers to the most common questions about our studio to make things easy for you. If you don’t find what you’re looking for, don’t hesitate to reach out — we’re happy to help with any additional questions!
What should I bring to class?
Grip socks are mandatory for hygiene and safety, providing stability on the equipment. You can bring your own or purchase them in the studio. In addition, wear comfortable, form-fitting activewear that allows for unrestricted movement. A water bottle is also recommended for hydration.
Do I need experience to join a class?
No prior experience is needed! Our classes cater to all levels, from beginners to advanced practitioners. If you’re new to Pilates or the reformer, we recommend starting with a beginner class or private session to learn the basics.
What is the STOTT PILATES® method?
STOTT PILATES® is a contemporary approach to the original exercise method pioneered by Joseph Pilates. Co-founders Lindsay G. Merrithew and Moira Merrithew, along with a team of physical therapists, sports medicine and fitness professionals, have spent three decades refining the STOTT PILATES® method of exercise and equipment. This resulted in the inclusion of modern principles of exercise science, fascial fitness and spinal rehabilitation, making it one of the safest and most effective methods available. This clear and detailed approach forms the basis for STOTT PILATES® training and Certification programs. STOTT PILATES® is used by rehab, post-rehab and prenatal clients, athletes, and everyone in between.
What is Reformer Pilates?
The reformer is one of the original pieces of equipment designed by Joseph Pilates. Reformer Pilates introduces adjustable resistance through the springs on the Reformer, along with the sliding carriage to aid motion. This method offers a broader range of exercises targeting specific muscle groups more effectively.
Is there parking available?
Yes, there is free parking at the front and rear side of the building. Spaces can fill up quickly, especially during peak class times, so we recommend arriving 5-10 mins early to secure a spot. If the lot is full, nearby street parking is available.
Can I do Pilates if I am injured or pregnant?
Absolutely! Pilates is a safe and effective way to build strength, stability, and mobility whether you're recovering from an injury or navigating pregnancy. We highly recommend private sessions to ensure personalized modifications and a workout tailored to your specific needs. We have instructors trained in Pre & Postnatal Pilates and rehabilitation-focused exercises—please speak with an instructor before booking to determine the best option for you. As always, consult your healthcare provider before starting a new routine.
How often should I do Pilates?
For the best results, we recommend practicing Pilates at least twice a week to build strength, improve mobility, and enhance the mind-body connection. Our class schedule is flexible and designed to accommodate daily practice, allowing you to be as consistent as your lifestyle permits. The more regularly you attend, the faster you'll experience the benefits of improved posture, core stability, and overall well-being.
What is the cancellation policy?
Being a small boutique studio, every spot counts at Pilates MVMT. As such, there is a 24 hour cancellation policy. We encourage all clients to book and manage reservations through our app.
